Today we were a homeschooling machine. My kids, thankfully, were willing--er--what would they be if we were a machine--ah yes, cogs, though not necessarily well-oiled.

We started the day with Bible. Today our Tapestry of Grace group wrapped up our first unit of Year three. We have been working on lap books all week that sum up what we've been covering this unit, and when I look back over the past two months, I am stunned at how much we've covered! It is sad to say, but we did a bit of research and discovered that the lovely little trees that we are growing are not going to grow into "pink lady" apple trees. I have to laugh, because of course trolls leave no indication of who they are or how they can be traced. They just come, poop in your yard, then leave. It's so effective. (rolling my eyes) I wonder what motivates people to be childish and nasty...really I do.

I feel like this week passed at the speed of light. It was so full. We didn't get a lot accomplished in the nuts and bolts of school due to doctor appointments and meetings, but it was fun. The goals on the checklists remain unchecked, the stories in the stack didn't get read, and not as much math as intended was covered. It is these weeks that I have to remember that there are other things that have even greater value than checking the book items off.

I find myself in a place longing for stretches of time without anything to do, no one to talk to, and no agenda.  That is not to say I would be a loaf during that time.  I would be very busy and unavailable.  But to others' minds I would probably be loafing.
